To our Statesman Cap10K community

We hope you’re doing well and staying healthy through the ongoing crisis. As we arrive at what would have been 2020 race weekend, we want to update you. Our team is continuing to work on developing responsible, appropriate plans to conduct the 2020 Statesman Cap10K packet pickup that are in accordance with state and municipal coronavirus restrictions on public gatherings effective until May 1.  As the health threat, public restrictions and safety precautions continue to evolve, our plans may evolve, too.

We’re excited about a really fun virtual race experience to coincide with packet pickup. As of now, we hope to announce packet pickup (2020 race shirt, bib and finisher’s medal) and virtual race instructions, in a few weeks.  And, we’re looking into making the virtual race a 100% fundraiser for our community.  If you’ve already completed your 6.2-mile run, please save your time. If you plan to run it before packet pickup, save your time and take photos, keeping physical distance in mind, for future sharing with our community.  We’re working thru 2021 registration and hope to share good news soon.

Also, we are proud to announce that we are donating more than $40,000 to the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM), the Cap10K beneficiary, which will help support our local musicians, on behalf of the race and registered participants.

We’ll continue to keep you updated. Please continue to remain physically distanced, but socially connected and safe. Your patience and support mean a lot. Thank you for staying with us.

Gov. Greg Abbott on Thursday issued broad restrictions to limit the spread of the coronavirus, banning public gatherings of more than 10 people and shuttering restaurant dining rooms, bars, gyms and schools across the state.

The executive order takes effect midnight Friday and ends midnight April 3, but could be extended, he said.

We continue to closely monitor the ongoing coronavirus situation.  The City of Austin and Travis County have issued restrictions on large-scale events of 2,500 persons or more through May 1.  They are reviewing each event on a case-by-case basis.

As of right now, our race is still on for Sunday, April 5.  We will continue to keep you updated and informed in a timely manner.  The health and safety of our participants, volunteers and staff come first.

The Cap10K, presented by Baylor Scott & White Health, is the largest 10K race in Texas, one of the top 10 in the nation, a BibRave Top Race in America and Austin Fit Magazine’s “Best Race/Run” for 2019.   The 2020 race beneficiary is the Health Alliance of Austin Musicians (HAAM).
