Winner Prizes
Three pair of socks awarded.

How to Enter Contest:

  • Participation is Free.
  • Snap a photo of an armadillo on your run.
  • Email the photo to austin10kr@gmail.com.
  • One (1) photo per entry.

Photo submissions received at austin10kr@gmail.com will be organized in a photo album on the Statesman Cap10K Facebook page. Photos assigned a raffle number in the order that they were received.  Three (3) raffle numbers will be drawn at random by event staff to determine the winners. Photo submission period starts at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 11:59 p.m. on 1/25/20.  Winners announced and contacted on 1/27/20.

Marathon Kids

Attend Austin 10K’r social events to complete miles towards your Marathon Kids training log. Each social event will have its own Marathon Kids family 1-mile route and map. Marathon Kids can earn a special edition armadillo half-mile or one-mile achievement stamp in their training log for participating.  As an additional bonus Marathon Kids headquarters will award prizes for kids with the special edition armadillo achievement stamps on their training logs.  So, start your training and collect those stamps.

We are Marathon Kids and we are on a mission to get kids moving. Through running, we show kids they can achieve more than they ever thought possible and put them on the path to healthier lives. Our Marathon Kids work at their own pace to run or walk a total of four marathons, and we provide the training, rewards, tools, and resources to keep them moving. We believe every kid deserves to live a happy, healthy life and that any adult can be empowered and trained to become an inspiring coach.

Route Description

The Bagel Run is a creative 3 to 5-mile route that travels south into the historic Bouldin Creek Neighborhood and then returns through the vibrant South Lamar Entertainment District. South Lamar has exploded with new restaurants, boutiques and condos in recent years ever changing the landscape of this sleepy boulevard. This is your chance to scope out the boulevard and plan something new for your next outing. The route finishes with a merge onto the Butler Hike & Bike Trail at Lady Bird Lake and a scenic view of downtown.

The route will start in the Austin American-Statesman’s parking lot and travel west on Barton Springs Rd. towards Palmer Event Center. Just before the Dougherty Arts Center the route will turn left at Dawson Rd. and head due south until it intersects W. Oltorf St. A right turn here will take you past one of the first notable establishments the Austin Beer Garden Brewing Co. just before the railroad tracks. Continue on W. Oltorf St. until in dead ends at S. Lamar Blvd., we turn right but on your left is the Black Sheep Lodge. From here down to the lake the boulevard is flanked by a multitude of great places to eat, shop, listen to live music, bowl, dance or catch a movie.
