Route Description

The Bagel Run is a creative 3 to 5-mile route that travels south into the historic Bouldin Creek Neighborhood and then returns through the vibrant South Lamar Entertainment District. South Lamar has exploded with new restaurants, boutiques and condos in recent years ever changing the landscape of this sleepy boulevard. This is your chance to scope out the boulevard and plan something new for your next outing. The route finishes with a merge onto the Butler Hike & Bike Trail at Lady Bird Lake and a scenic view of downtown.

The route will start in the Austin American-Statesman’s parking lot and travel west on Barton Springs Rd. towards Palmer Event Center. Just before the Dougherty Arts Center the route will turn left at Dawson Rd. and head due south until it intersects W. Oltorf St. A right turn here will take you past one of the first notable establishments the Austin Beer Garden Brewing Co. just before the railroad tracks. Continue on W. Oltorf St. until in dead ends at S. Lamar Blvd., we turn right but on your left is the Black Sheep Lodge. From here down to the lake the boulevard is flanked by a multitude of great places to eat, shop, listen to live music, bowl, dance or catch a movie.
